Question:
A shock wave with the pressure ratio of 4.5 propagates from left to right in
a quiescent air with the following parameters: p = 100 kPa, T = 300 K. Another shock
wave with the pressure ratio of 3.2 propagates in the same direction behind the rst one.
Plot p-V diagram (e.g., in Matlab or other tools) corresponding to the interaction of these
two waves showing all the states involved. From the graph determine (approximately) the
intensity of the resulting waves (in terms of pressure ratio across those waves). Verify the
accuracy of the solution by substituting it into the relevant equation. Iterative solution
via Matlab would be OK too (but the diagram should be provided anyway).
