Question: A simply supported 2 0 0 m m deep and 7 5 m m wide beam is subjected to externally applied loading as shown in

A simply supported 200mm deep and 75mm wide beam is subjected to
externally applied loading as shown in Figure Q1 below. The loading consists
of a concentrated point load of magnitude P=10kN that is located at C, a
uniformly distributed loading of magnitude w=2kNm, and axial tensile loads
of magnitude F=15kN that act through the neutral axis of the beam.
(a) Determine:
i. The support reactions at A and B
(4 marks)
ii. The maximum bending moment in the beam and its location
(4 marks)
iii. The maximum bending stress (in units of MPa) that occurs in the
beam
(4 marks)
iv. The maximum axial stress (in units of MPa) that occurs in the beam
(3 marks)
(b) Using the principle of superposition:
i. Determine the location and magnitude of the maximum resultant
stress in the beam, indicating whether it is a tensile or compressive
stress
(5 marks)
ii. Sketch the axial, bending and resultant stress distributions for the
beam cross-section at the location of the maximum resultant stress
in the beam, i.e. at the location identified in Q1(b)i.
(there is an example up but i believe the measurements are either wrong or i cant understand where they come from)
