A single$-$storey reinforced concrete structure will be constructed on a site in the west of Ireland using one$-$way spanning reinforced concrete slabs, supported by reinforced concrete beams, supported by reinforced columns with reinforced concrete pad$-$type foundations. Calculation of the embodied carbon footprint of this structure is also required. The floor will be required to support a permanent characteristic action resulting from the floor build$-$up shown below in Figure $1,$ in addition to a nominal characteristic variable action of $4\mathrm{.}0$ kN$/$m$2.$For calculations, ensure you: Determine spans and loadings Determine appropriate slab thickness Calculate bending moment and shear forces for slab Include diagrams as per worked example Design of tension reinforcement for slab at $($ii$)$ midspan and $($ii$)$ over the first internal support Perform all necessary checks in regards of shear and deflection
