A table is perceived as being a two dimensional structure made up of by columns and rows. The relational model's creator E.F. Gould also called a table a relation. The columns and rows represent an unique entry like for example in a table named "Students" each row could correspond to a different student but the columns would give more info like Student ID, Age, Major. This allows for straight forward data organization but also reduces redundancy and dependency.
