A threestory (G+2) residential building located in Jammu is-laterally resisted by three reinforced concrete (RC) frames in one (Y) directioon and four shear walls in the other (X) direction. Ali stories are 3.6m high. It can be assumed that the frames and shcar walls have neglighte
contribution in the out-of-plane direction. The floor area is used in such a way that the left bay has a Iive load of 5kNm2(on each floor) and the right bay has a live load of 3kNm2(on each foor), It is further provided that:
(i) Total dead load: 1440kN(on roof) and 1800kN(each 1st and 2nd Floors)
(ii) Stiffness of frame: 30kNmm(each for 1 and 3),10 kN/mm (for 2)
(iii) stiffness of each wall 30kN/mm
(iv) maximum number of occupants 80
the original design was prepared assuming brick masonary infill frames. however, based on client's request, light weight flexible glazing and partition were used in place of masonary infills. Comment on seismic safety of the building considering global seismic demand in Y direction, use equivalent static method as per IS 1893(2016) to support your comment.
