Question: A two span bridge ABC has a total width of 1 0 m , and end up - stand beams of 2 0 0 mm

A two span bridge ABC has a total width of 10 m , and end up-stand beams of 200 mm wide and 600 mm high. The deck is of reinforeed concrete of thickness 200 mm . The deck is supported monolithically by girders 300 mm wide by 600 mm deep, these girders are spaced at 1000 mm centres. The span AB is 20 m and BC is also 20 m .
i). Draw the cross section and longitudinal section of the bridge. (4 marks)
ii). Determine the number of notional lanes and the remaining area on the bridge, (2 marks)
iii). How many tandem systems can traverse the bridge at a time? (2 marks).
iv). Draw the influence lines and determine the Maximum load effects for one of the girders when all the notional lanes of the bridge are subjected to tandem axle load of 300 KN and a uniformly distributed load of 9KNm2 :
a) Bending moment of girder at midspan of BC (4 marks).
b) Reaction of girder at support A (4 marks).
c) Shear of girder at mid of span AB(4 marks)
A two span bridge ABC has a total width of 1 0 m
