A wooden cantilever is fixed at one end. A mass, M, is attached to the other end of the cantilever. When the mass is displaced and released, it oscillates with a period, T, given by T= 2π 4ML3 Ebd³ where E is Young's modulus of the wood, L is the length of the cantilever, b is the width of the cantilever and d is its thickness. (1) Rearrange the equation to make E the subject of the equation. Given that M = 100.0 g, T = (0.56 = 0.02)s, L = (81.4+0.2)cm, b= (1.5+ 0.1) cm and d = (0.55 = 0.05)cm. (ii) Calculate the best estimate of the Young's modulus of the wood.
