A word breakdown structure is meant to break down the work of a project, so that everyone understands it and there is smaller task to accomplish the big picture. Use of a WBS helps to assure project managers that all products and work elements are identified, to integrate the project with the current organization, and to establish a basis for control. Basically, the WBS is an outline of the project with different levels of detail. (Larson & Gray, 2018). The breakdown happens so the project can become more efficient on time and cost. The Army does this when we have big projects we must handle, whoever is in charge breaks it down using WBS to make sure that all tasks are completed and that everything gets done correctly and in a timely manner. This gives people at different levels the ability to handle things at their level and handle things the proper way.
