• individualism/collectivism
• time orientation (i.e. monochronic vs. polychronic)
• power distance
• long term/short-term orientation
• masculinity vs. femininity (please ensure you understand the concept of masculinity w.r.t. cultural context as this does NOT mean a culture where men dominate- so please don't make that mistake).
• proxemics for that country (include, for example, how to greet someone in this culture)
• how people in that country tend to view their environment/circumstances (i.e., are they in control, or is some factor outside of them controlling their outcomes/destiny)
• That countrys major industries (show the percentage of GDP if you can)
• The political setup (Is it a democracy or dictatorship?). Any current political issues (such as war? riots? unstable government) that might affect doing business with that country.
• The infrastructural setup and issues (i.e., What is the main airport? The primary way to get around-subway/car/bus/train/flight/boat? Can an American quickly drive there? Is it safe to? What are the conditions of the roads? Are railways and Flights reliable? Are there any water or electric supply issues that might impact an American company's ability to set up business there?
• Where that country falls on the corruption index
• Worst times to travel to that country for business (this is usually around that country's major holidays or is weather related like wintertime in Iceland)
• Business-related superstitions and customs to watch out for when undertaking gift-giving or socialization for business in that country. (e.g., In India you would never gift knives, like a Swiss army knife, to a business contact because it would be considered bad luck and that it would cut the relationship)
