Abbey contracts with Jason to do a large$-$scale remodel of her house for $$100,000.$ The remodel is expected to take two months and start on June $1.$ On June $1,$ Jason calls Abbey and tells her he is delayed with another job and that he cannot start until June $3.$ Abbey tells Jason she is going to hire another company and then sues Jason for total breach of contract. In this case, Abbey is entitled to compensatory damages for Jasons total breach of the contract. Neither Jason nor Abbey is entitled to any damages since Jason had not started the work. The court would order Jason to complete the job to Abbeys specifications. Jason may be entitled to compensatory damages for Abbeys total breach of the contract.
