According to our notes in 1968 the Fair Housing Act took place to avoid discrimination. This law is a federal law that makes it illegal to discriminate based on someone race, color, sex, religion, national origin, disability, or familial status in the sale or lease of residential property. To add on, this law also protects so that the seller or broker does not state or represent the property of not being available when in fact it is just because of how a person may look as it might not be the potential buyer the seller is looking for.
