According to the PMBOK guide, project management processes are grouped into five management groups Initiating Process Group, planning process group, executive process group, monitoring and controlling group and closing process group. The project planning of a complex software development project would include brainstorming ideas, development, documentation, and launch. The planning will provide answers such as the product's features, functionality, stakeholders and division of roles and responsibilities. This plan will provide a guideline if anything goes wrong or in the event of a conflict. The project planning would be very similar to a construction project. However, project deliverables, responsibilities and project teams will be different with different skill sets.
