According to the World Health Organization, in collaboration with UNICEF and IFRC (2020), COVID-19 is defined as a disease caused by a new strain of corona-virus; as ‘CO’ stands for corona, ‘VI’ for virus, and ‘D’ for the disease. Formerly, the disease was referred to as the ‘2019 novel corona-virus’ or ‘2019-nCoV’ and linked to the same family of viruses as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and some types of common cold.
Since this pandemic has developed, it has created a global standstill for many industries and their economy; which has created many sudden changes here in The Bahamas’ workforce population. On Sunday, March 15th, 2020, the Prime Minister of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas, The Most Hon. Dr. Hubert A. Minnis announced to the nation, its first case of COVID-19. The victim was a 61-year-old Bahamian woman with no recent travel history. Due to this, the Prime Minister and his government moved to immediately suspend operations of many services that began in the first instance on Monday, March 16th, 2020.
In light of the above, and the recent surge of cases here in The Bahamas, and the various psychological methods that were explained in class (Chapter 2), answer the following question:
1. If you were gathering information from Bahamians and local residents regarding the impact of COVID-19 on their personal lives, which psychological method or methods would you use and why? Explain.
