ACCT 2302 PROJECT
You will select a publicly owned company in which you are interested in purchasing stock. Each of you must select a different company. No student may have the same company as someone else. You may not select any of these companies:
Coca Cola
Pepsi
Mattel
Hasbro
Lumber Liquidators
Lowes
Home Depot
This is because ratios are already calculated for these companies in the book. Do not select one of the above companies, or your project will receive a grade of zero.
Please participate in the discussion post on Canvas (under discussion link on left-hand side) posting the company you wish to research by Tuesday, Sept. 5. You may not pick a company that someone else already selected. You must each have a different company. Make sure you select a company that is publicly owned (Google it to make sure).
Once you have been approved to research that company by the professor, begin your calculations.
Your final project will consist of the following:
Typed pages (double spaced, 12 point, use Microsoft Word) including the following:
Begin by stating why you selected this company and give some background information about the company.
Be sure to show the verticalanalysis and explain what the results of the vertical analysis mean to your company. (Example of a vertical analysis is in Chapter 13).
Be sure to show each ratio calculation (select 5 ratios discussed in Chapter 13) and explain what each ratio means as they relate to your company. Interpret how these ratios affect your company; dont just state the definition of the ratio.
Have a conclusion stating how your company is doing and whether you would invest in this company.
Be sure to cite your references.
Include the financial statements from the company (so I can check your calculations).
