Many Human Resources practitioners face the new challenge of expanding operations

globally. Even if a company is sending just a few employees abroad, if the duration is

longer than a year, possible adjustments must be made to the individual's

compensation. Companies must consider not only the need to maintain employee's

standard of living as they move into a different economy, but also the need to

encourage the acceptance of an international assignment.
