Plot describes the sequence of events in a storythat is, what happens in a story. There are six elements of the plot that we must identify while reading fiction: Component Exposition Conflict Description The author will usually introduce the characters, the setting, and the situation. The author will give a character a problem, need, or desire that results in a struggle (i.e. Human vs. Human, Human vs. Nature, Human vs. Society, Human vs. Self). N Rising Action The conflict and situations of the story become more intense, complex, Climax or more exciting. The deciding moment in a story. Here the conflict is resolved or changes in some way. Falling Action Now that the climax has occurred, the action begins to wind down. The story ends and we know the fate of the characters. Resolution However, before you jump into identifying all of the elements of plot in "Harrison Bergeron," let's determine and review some helpful points.
