There are six elements of the plot that we must identify while reading fiction: Component Exposition Conflict Description The author will usually introduce the characters, the setting, and the situation. The author will give a character a problem, need, or desire that results in a struggle (i.e. Human vs. Human, Human vs. Nature, Human vs. Society, Human vs. Self). N Rising Action The conflict and situations of the story become more intense, complex, Climax or more exciting. The deciding moment in a story. Here the conflict is resolved or changes in some way.
