Activity Overview: Students will seek information regarding standards and protocols.

Take a moment to explore some of the different protocols and standards established by the various organizations. Seek answers to the following questions:

1. Seek out an individual standard: Who establishes this standard? Does this organization function alone, or did they collaborate with other organizations to create the standard?
2. Research the 802 Group established by the IEEE, what are the various sub-committees that fall under the 802 Group (802.11, 802.3, etc.)?
3. What other activities does the IETF take part in (protocols and standards)?
4. What is an RFC?
5. Who are the contributing members of the ISO for the United States, Russia, China, and any countries which may impact your work in the future?
