Team Preparation Assignment (5%)
This assignment is designed as a milestone assignment to contribute to your team
presentation and written report.
Overview
Your team will have to complete the following tasks. Each number tasks equates to 1-3
paragraphs (exception is question 5). Pay attention to the allotted marks in the rubric and
ensure you are covering what is asked. The final preparation assignment will be no more than
two pages of content (plus the title page and references page). Anything done as original
content written in this preparation assignment can be reused in future team assignment
components for the same team (presentation and R&S Materials report) and will not count as
plagiarism. Anything used in this assignment does not automatically have to be used in future
components of the team assignment, if the group wishes to take a new direction after receiving
feedback. This is meant as a preparation assignment to start the process.
Task 1: Organization Summary
Name and explain the organization(s) that your team assignment will be covering. Ensure there
are some facts about the organization such as when it was founded, where its located, the
industry it operates in and key competitors.
Task 2: Position
Outline the role you will be recruiting by listing the job title and list a few descriptors of the job
duties and qualifications (this does not need to be an entire job description and job
specification, even if you already have one this is meant as a summary). Next provide a brief
description of how you know the organization currently recruits for that role. If this is unknown
to you, state that. Note: Your assignment is to suggest a strategy for recruitment and
selection; if you do not change what is already in place, you will lose substantial marks on the
assignment.
Task 3: Recruitment Method
List one strategic way you could recruit for this this position, given the information youve
currently researched. List the method and outline why youve selected it.(Support: See
Chapter 6) Note: You will not lose marks in your final paper if you decide to recruit in another
method after further research.
Task 4: Screening and Selection Methods
List one type of screening method and one type of selection method you could use for this
position, given the information youve currently researched. List each method and outline why
youve selected it.(Support: See Chapter 7-9) Note: You will not lose marks in your final paper
if you decide to select candidates another way after further research.
Task 5: Behavioural Interview Question
Create one behavioural interview question you could ask related to your role. Do not create the
associated scoring guide for this question. (Support: See Chapter 9) Note: You will not lose
marks in your final paper if you do not use this question in your interview questionnaire.
Task 6: Reference
Find one reputable reference (scholarly journal article) that will support your assignment. The
reference needs to be appropriately cited, and then write one paragraph explaining how the
reference may help the paper. This explanation can include what the reference is covering
and/or an explanation of types of recruitment best practices you might incorporate. Note: You
will not lose marks in your final paper if you do not use these sources.
a. For example, you may find a reference on a type of selection test and the validity of its
use compared to job performance. Your paragraph would explain this, as well as why it
would link to your current role.
b. Ensure each citation is included on the reference page and add in-text references as well
where necessary in your summary (use APA).
Task 7: Two-Way Communication
Create one possible way you could support two-way communication during your presentation.
This method can be a tool or types of questions. If its a tool you must list and explain how you
would use it (IE/ Poll Everywhere we use in class is a tool). If its a question you must list the
question and explain its relevance. Note: You will not lose marks in your presentation if you
do not do this specific method.
Task 8: Sample Slide
Choose a slideshow theme and create one sample slide with task 1 content displayed on it.
Attach this slide as an Appendix to your paper as a sample of how you might demonstrate the
visuals of your presentation. Hint: Try making it match your company colours. Note: You will
not lose marks in your presentation if you do not use this as your final slideshow theme. This
is meant as a preparation assignment to start the process.
Grading Notes and Rubric
Additional grading criteria to consider (overall marks may be docked):
1. Assignment submission requires a title page with all student names and student
numbers.
2. Assignment submission must be in APA citation format with a reference page and in-text
citations.
