Cumulative mass retained on 4mm sieve =30g.
Cumulative mass retained on 75 Micron sieve =150g.
D10=0.07mm,D30=0.12mm, and D60=1.95mm.
Liquid Limit (LL)=38% and Plastic Limit (PL)=28%.
1.1 Calculate the soil percentage finer than 75m size and state if the soil is suitable for foundation of a 3-storey building.
1.2 Calculate the percentage fraction coarser than 4mm.
1.3 Calculate the percentage fraction finer than 4mm. Also state if the soil is suitable for foundation of a 3-storey building.
1.4 State the group category the given soil belongs to using USCS classification method.
1.5 Determine the group category of the soil using the Liquid Limit and Plastic Limit values according to the soil plasticity chart shown in Figure 1.
