After I explained different ways to use the simple graphing paper, Benjamin found classroom items of different colors to graph which color he had the most of. He colored in a square to represent the specific color for each item he found. He then asked if he could use a ruler to measure which column was the tallest. When I told him our rulers were being used, I asked if he could think of another way to measure the columns. Benjamin paused and said, "I count them!" After counting, he announced in Spanish to the parent volunteer, "Yellow is first, green is second, and red is third. If I could find three more red things, red would be first and that's my favorite color."
