1. How did Shackleton advertise for crew members? How many men applied to be on his crew? What traits and skills was Shackleton looking for? Why would he be looking for these specific traits and skills? Reference the literature for assistance.

2. Based on our readings and mini lectures, how would you characterize Shackleton's Leadership "style". Did it change throughout the voyage? Do you think his leadership style, whether the same of changing, was right for the situation?

3. After The Endurance was iced in, what steps did Shackleton take to keep up the morale of the men? How did he conduct himself among the crew members? Did he treat them all the same? How would you characterize the competence and commitment of the various crew members?

4. After Shackleton left Elephant Island for South Georgia, how did the men fare back on Elephant Island? How did Frank Wild lead them? Compare Wild's leadership style to Shackleton's. Do you think one was more effective than the other?
