Alexis prefers to take customer calls instead of data entry and feels this project is too big to complete in a day, so she starts work on it with a less-than-enthusiastic attitude. She does about an hour of work on the project and takes a break to get some coffee. When she gets back to her desk, she decides to check her e-mail messages and spends about 30 minutes on correspondence. By lunch time, she has completed about a third of the project. She cuts her lunch break short with the intention of getting more work done on the project, but then receives a phone call from a friend and spends the extra time chatting instead. By mid-afternoon, Alexis has barely completed half of the project. Convincing herself that she won't be able to get the job done by the end of the day, she goes for another cup of coffee and stops to talk with a co-worker.
