Question:
All possible combinations of the digits 1, 2, 3, 4 are used to create a list of 5 digit numbers in numerical order, with repetition allowed. Hence, the first number will be 11111 and the last 44444. What will be the 511th number in the list?
There will be 1024 total possible combinations, and the 512th is halfway, so what I need to do is find the 512th, or half of the possible combinations in the list, and subtract 1 from that number to find the 511th number in the list. How do I do this?
