An air gap is a security measure that physically isolates a computer or network from other networks

or the internet to prevent unauthorized access. For example, assume you build a network inside a

building with no connection to the Internet or the outside world the space between the network

and the outside of the building would be considered an air gap. If the building is surrounded by a

security fence, the air gap would also include the space between the building and the fence. The air

gap ensures that sensitive data is not accessible from other networks or devices, thus reducing the

risk of cyber attacks. Will creating a LAN using shielded twisted pair cables always provide an

impervious air gap? You can assume that the cables are free from defects.

d$.$ Possibly. Even though shielded twisted pair emit small amounts of EMF or radio frequencies,

they can only be measured and read from very short distances. If the physical air gap

between the cables and the outside world is more than a meter or two at most, an attacker

would be unable to obtain any data from the network cables.
