An important skill to learn is reading and critically considering news articles related to topics of interest. This month you will be monitoring the news for articles related to a global issue of our choosing. It is important that the issue you choose is currently in the news. Students are required to keep a news journal and do a presentation to class about the issue.

Find and read at least two news article each week for 4 weeks between Jan 8^thand Feb 4th

   • Thoughtfully assess each article and its presentation of the information.
   • Do not use AI to create a summary for you. The purpose of this assignment is to read and analyse the articles yourself.

1. News Journal: but must include: (use the template below)
2. • A short description (5-10 sentences) about the global issue topic that is being followed.
   • Two articles each week for between Jan 8^th and Feb 4th
     • Read each article
     • Record Date, Title, author, source, and link to each article
     • brief (paragraph at the most) summary and explanation of the article's relevance to the topic and significance
3. An in-class presentation based on your news journal about the global issue you chose to focus on.
   • In class presentations will be on: February 26th and March 5th
   • Create a short, clear, slide deck (5-10 slides) summarizing learnings and significance
   • Presentation should include:
     • one discussion question for the class.
     • a timeline with important dates related to the global issue.
