An ongoing challenge is to replace disposable cups and containers made from polystyrene foams and expandable polystyrene $($EPS$)$ with biodegradable polymers $($as foam or non$-$foam product$).$ The proposed plastic should have appropriate thermal properties $($e$.$g$.,$ glass transition and melting point$)$ for handling hot food and beverages. Research the type of biodegradable polymers that can be used for this purpose with proper citation to references and articles.
