R & R Seafood Restaurant is a very popular restaurant with a tagline "Fresh from the Sea/River to your plate". At the back of the restaurant is a river. Fattah Aman had been working there for four years as an accounts clerk cum general staff. Even though he and all the workers were given generous bonus every year, Fattah felt something was amiss as he was not happy with how the restaurant was managed. The kitchen was not managed hygienically. The floor was dirty and the kitchen workers (including the cooks) just laid the raw materials directly on the floor. The raw materials e.g. chicken, beef, and vegetables were sometimes washed in the toilet. This was due lack of proper and sufficient sink to wash them and they were always in a hurry to serve so many customers that come to the restaurant. As it was not an open concept kitchen, the customers did not realise about the condition of the kitchen and how it was run because it could not be seen from the front. Every night after the restaurant was closed, they will dump most of the rubbish produced for the day into the river. Fattah also noticed that some of the workers took home some of the cooked food and raw materials from the restaurant. He tried to advise his colleagues not to do that, but to no avail. One day, Fattah took courage to talk to the owner cum manager of the restaurant about the situations, and he had given suggestions to him on how to improve the conditions for the better. Unfortunately, his ideas were rejected as it will cost the company quite a huge sum of money to renovate the kitchen and improve the kitchen equipment and utensils. While thankful for the information about his workers' behaviours and practices, the owner was not happy with Fattah for voicing out his comments and opinion of the way he ran his business. While all the other workers were given two months bonus for the year, Fattah was only given half-month bonus. And as if not enough with that, Fattah was told to resign from working there if he is not happy.
