In this assignment, you will learn & demonstrate your knowledge of how to:
Analyze a products features using Internet research;
Understand a clients motivations, needs & expectations to understand how the product benefits him/her;
Tailor your description of the products features & benefits for your client.
Steps:
Choose a partner in the class to work on this assignment together (group of 2). One of you will be the sales rep and one of you will be the client (you choose).
Choose a product that you will focus on. It should be something that:
You would consider buying in your own personal life. (Hopefully this will make the assignment more fun to work on.)
Has a website with lots of information about the product that you can use to analyze its features (and benefits to the client)
Create a brief (1 page) report with the following information:
The name of the product and a brief description
Make the product name a hyperlink to the product details web page
Three (3) features of the product
For each feature, explain what makes that feature appealing to the client (in other words, what is the benefit to the client of each feature you choose?)
Note: Differentiation is important. If there are similar products in the market with similar features, then you will need to focus on what features set the product that you have chosen apart from others.
Please use bullet point format (no paragraphs).
Include both of your names and Seneca IDs at the top of your 1-page report.
No citation or cover page needed.
Prepare your document in MS Word, save it as a PDF and submit the PDF via the Dropbox in Bb by the due date.
Rubric:
5/5 = Your report is submitted in PDF; it is attractively presented in good document style with no issues with spelling, grammar, punctuation and formatting; all required components of the assignment are included; uses 3 appropriate features with a clear statement why each appeals to the client.
Marks deducted for:
Missing a key component of this assignment as described above
Confusing the difference between features and benefits
Using features that do not differentiate your product from similar products
More than 2-3 minor issues with document style (spelling, grammar, punctuation, formatting); Not submitted in PDF
