Analysis ToolPak can help you with discovering descriptive statistics and selected statistical tests. I have also attached stat formulas you may need. However, this is an introduction to statistics course and the objectives of this course do not go much beyond initial concepts of research. Even 20 years ago before the common use of the desktop or laptop computers we would not attempt to do statistics without a calculator and a book of stat tables. Do you use graph paper and pencil to do income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements today? No, you use spreadsheets. You should know how the formulas work but today we leave the tedious computations to the computer. Simple formulas like the mean, median and mode are understandable but for complex formulas like Chi-Square or p-values we rely on the micro-processor.
