Im sure that you are both well aware of the purpose of this report since you requested it, so Ill just say that our first reaction was positive but then some negatives arose that we should deal with. After researching current best practices in the industry, the proposed usage, the potential problems and projected cost, we have three recommendations:

1. That QPhone 6s be purchased by the company for each sales person

2. That the most cost-effective plan is Horizons two-year, unlimited data option

3. That a new smartphone usage policy be drafted and circulated before distributing the phones Phone

There were three smartphones that appeared to meet with our sales forces needs. First, we looked at the wider screens of the QPhone Plus. These allow the sales people to view invoices and product tables more clearly with less scrolling; however, they are too large to comfortably fit into the existing protective phone cases bought for $99 each just last year. New cases arent an option. Second, we looked into the QPhone 6. While this model doesnt have the same large screen as the Plus, it does offer a wider view than its predecessor and will fit the existing phone cases. Lastly, the competitors model for the 6 is less expensive by $40 per phone, but doesnt carry the same data capability that our sales force say they need to be competitive in the field. Overall, the QPhone 6 has the size and functionality that we are looking for, making it the best candidate.

After interviewing the sales staff, an unlimited data package seems to be the best plan to purchase. This assures that they can access whatever they need whenever they need it from these devices in the field. It will also allow direct communication via text, email or video conferencing at all times the phone is in use. We researched and spoke to three different carriers and after costing each out, Horizon is the least expensive while still giving us the coverage and data plan that we need. We can figure out how to switch plans when the time comes.

Since we all read the trade blogs, I will not bother repeating all the negative stories about employee misuse and our potential for experiencing it. A well-written, thorough usage policy could be drafted in 5-7 working days using the samples weve culled from our online research and the human resources department. Once finalized, it should be given to the sales force for review and signing. This will help protect the company from risks associated with phone use and remind the employees of best practices and dangers associated with careless operation of company technology. A locator and wipe program should also be installed on each phone in the event that the device is lost.
