• Question 1) What are the cultural aspects of "rationality?" What does it mean to be rational? Do you feel this is something uniform among all groups? Does it differ from scientists to members of the clergy? From hunter-gatherers to capitalists?
• Question 2)What are the assumptions behind Kahneman's work? For example, what are the ideas behind maximizing one's utility? Do all cultures strive to maximize each individual's utility?
• Question 3)What about preconceptions? The brain is an "association machine," as Kahneman said. How does this affect preconceptions and prejudgments? An example is the "halo effect." What do you expect as differences between cultures?

PART 2

Question 1)Find a film or book related to any topics discussed in Dingman's book. This time, the artifact should depict something specific to scientific knowledge and how it is represented in literature, film, or the arts. For example, you could find a film about neuroscience or pathological behavior, or a novel that involves aspects of brain injury or pharmacological treatments that reflects some concept we examined.
