Research Question: How does workplace culture impact employee wellbeing?
1. Introduction: Statement of the Problem Workplace wellbeing is a critical aspect of organizational success, affecting not only employee satisfaction but also productivity and retention (Ahmadi et al.,2023). However, the influence of workplace culture on employee wellbeing remains underexplored. This study aims to investigate the relationship between workplace culture and employee wellbeing, focusing on the role of supportive environments and the impact of negative behaviors such as bullying (Cerdeira et al.,2023; Pauksztat et al.,2022).
Purpose of the Study The purpose of this qualitative study is to explore the impact of workplace culture on employee wellbeing.
Research Question What are the experiences of employees regarding the impact of workplace culture on their wellbeing?
2. Philosophical Assumptions or Worldview This study aligns with the constructivist worldview, which posits that individuals construct their realities based on their experiences and interactions (Creswell & Creswell, 2023). This worldview is appropriate as the study seeks to understand employees' subjective experiences and perceptions of their workplace culture.
3. Qualitative Design A phenomenological design will be used to explore the lived experiences of employees regarding the impact of workplace culture on their wellbeing (Creswell & Creswell, 2023).
4. Role of the Researcher As a qualitative researcher, my role will be to collect data, interpret the participants' experiences, and ensure the research process is ethical and respectful (Creswell & Creswell, 2023).
5. Data Collection Procedures Data will be collected through semi-structured interviews conducted via video call, each lasting approximately one hour.
6. Data Analysis Procedures Data will be analyzed using inductive thematic analysis, allowing themes to emerge from the data (Creswell & Creswell, 2023).
7. Strategies for Validating Findings Strategies such as member checking and triangulation will be used to validate the findings (Creswell & Creswell, 2023).
8. Population, Sample, and Participants The population will consist of full-time employees from various industries. A purposive sample of 20 participants will be selected based on their experience with different workplace cultures.
9. Anticipated Ethical Issues Ethical considerations will include obtaining informed consent, ensuring confidentiality, and seeking IRB approval (Creswell & Creswell, 2023).
10. Expected Findings ; The expected findings of this study are that workplace culture significantly impacts employee wellbeing. It is anticipated that a supportive and positive workplace culture will be associated with higher levels of employee wellbeing, while a negative workplace culture, characterized by behaviors such as bullying, will be associated with lower levels of wellbeing. These findings will contribute to the existing literature by providing a deeper understanding of the role of workplace culture in employee wellbeing. They will also have practical implications for organizations, suggesting that efforts to improve workplace culture could be a valuable strategy for enhancing employee wellbeing and, in turn, organizational performance.
