Throughout the semester you must complete one current event writing assignment. The purpose of these assignments is to give you an opportunity to apply concepts from the textbook to a current event. I will post three to four articles from a business press outlet. You must select one of the articles and write a 1-2 page write-up relating the article back to one or more key theoretical models we have discussed during the course.

Current Event Assignment: Due on or before Oct 26th (Thu, 5PM). - You are required to use, at least, one of the following models in this assignment: Strategy diamond framework, five forces model, value chain framework, strategic positioning model

I want you to demonstrate that you can use theoretical models to better understand the real world. Discuss what is happening in a company and/or an industry (e.g., the problem it is facing, a recent change in its practice) and analyze the situation using one of the theoretical models. I DO NOT want you to simply summarize the facts from the article. I want you to make your own evaluation and argument on the issue(s) from the article by using both the theoretical models and the facts from the article. Remember; the evaluations and arguments made in the news articles are not necessarily correct. Be clear in your assignment about what theoretical model you use to understand the article.
