c. Area layout design (activity relationship chart to dimensionless diagram). Minimum 10 departments, including description of qualitative and/or qualitative closeness ratings. d. Determining the optimal location for a new facility relative to a minimum of 15 existing ones. Presentation to include a map and explain the nature of relationships. Content must be based on an actual field survey carried out on an identifiable facility. A hypothetical case study would be acceptable in case access to an actual facility is not possible. Presentations should be structured to address the following components: 1. Introduce the organization, market, products and describe the facility studied [10 marks] 2. Explain the core issue, problem, or improvement opportunity you have chosen to address (20 marks) 3. Describe in detail the model or technique (a, b, c, or d from the above list) which you have used to offer a solution or an improvement (10 marks/ 4. Detail your data collection process and some of the practical challenges you may have encountered (10 marks/ 5. Walk the class through your data analysis processes leading to the solution (20 marks/ 6. Apart from the core issue you addressed, did you come across other improvement opportunities? (10 marks) 7. Share interesting observations and lessons learned from the exercise (10 marks) 8. Describe your experience working as a team. Would you do things differently next time? (10 marks)
