Application controls are computerized controls over application programs. Since companies may use many different computer programs in its day-to-day business, there may be many different types of application controls to consider in an audit. In addition to testing system documentation, auditors test the three main functions of the computer applications.

1. Identify the three application classifications;
2. For one of the classifications, give one example of an appropriate control for the classification you have chosen.
