Critical Review Paper Purpose: Apply the skills learned in this class to pen a critical appraisal of research literature. WE have practiced the multi-step process of appraising research evidence up to this point. Now, it is time to apply those skills in conducting a critical appraisal of research literature related to the field of study. Assimilate all the information the have collected about the approved research article into a cohesive, formal written review. The six to eight page paper should include the following elements: 1. First page in APA . 2. Article reference (APA) at the top of the first page 3. Introduction: one - three paragraphs orienting the reader to the study a) Introduces the topic and clinical question/problem b) Provides background information c) States the purpose of the research d) Preview your analysis of the research with an appropriate thesis statement 1. Research Summary (no more than two pages): Brief summary of the study itself with sufficient detail to clearly explain the research a) Study design b) Study methodology (sampling, procedures, instrumentation, data collection, etc.) c) Main findings (statistical analysis and results) d) Authors' conclusions e) Limitations, validity, and reliability addressed by authors 1.
