Department of Health and Human Services, National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) in its NIH publication is defined as \"A disorder that develops in some people who have experienced a shocking, scary, or dangerous event\" (2015). The Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) prevalence could result to development of obesity. There is a rise in veterans who have PTSD and eventually became overweight and then obese. Evidence shows that the use of psychotropic medications in the treatment and management of PTSD in veterans who participated in wars and other individuals and PTSD's actual pathophysiological mechanisms tend to cause excessive weight gain and their long time use leads to obesity. Objective To research on more important information on post traumatic stress disorder, study how medications for its treatment poses obesity risk.
