As employees health changes, they may miss work due to illness or injury increasing healthcare cost for employees and employers. Furthermore, employees may be less productive while at work due to stress, depression, or illness. The work environment itself can worsen these factors by not offering a comfortable environment with proper seating, lighting and breaks. Lastly, employers who are not themselves concerned with health are less likely to promote a healthy work environment having a negative influence on the employees. These circumstances alone should encourage companies to implement necessary changes to address their employees mental and physical health.
