As important as the data is that is collected for the research of a dissertation the analysis of that data is just as important. For a researcher to decide on which form of data analysis is appropriate the first step is to understand there are multiple ways to go about it and it involves competence and intellect (Hesse-Bibber, 2019).

For example, collecting data through surveys opposed to interviews, there isn't a personal interaction from the participants so that information is cut and dry and you will not be able to ask more questions for a more in-depth response. This may involve organizing codes and memos.

Understand what ethical issues may arise when analyzing data. Depending on the sensitive nature of your research and the participants involved, how you review and organize your information for sensitive topics requires suitable steps to maintain participant information. The processes used will require securing that information before, during and after the research. The researcher that will rely on interviews and surveys that do not require intimate details gives the researcher more opportunity to sort and organize with less discretion because there is not an exposure of private information.
