Question:
As you may know, not-for-profit health care organizations receive several "benefits" as a result of their tax status. Among them are an exemption from paying federal and state income taxes, most property taxes, and the ability to issue tax-exempt bonds, which lower overall borrowing costs. For profit health care organizations enjoy none of these tax benefits.
Increasingly, these tax benefits are being called into question by a number of different stakeholder groups.
Question is to examine the many claims and counterclaims around this contentious issue.. You may support the continuation of said tax benefits, the ending of same, or some modification of existing treatment.
