As you probably know, there is a significant strike going on with the United Auto Workers, the union that joins most of the US autoworkers. You will see that there is a breakdown in negotiation whereby Senior Management and the members of UAW cannot come to terms with a new contract. There is a great power imbalance if you are one autoworker going into negotiations. The union creates "strength in numbers." So they collectively bargain with the Senior Management of these big three US automakers.

The two sides has spent months working on a new contract, but they have been unable to reach an agreement. First, what is a union and what is the reason people unionize? Next, looking at this particular current case, why can't the two sides reach an agreement? Do you think Senior Management is negotiating in good faith? Do you think the unions are making reasonable demands.

Doing some mini research you will find there is lots of material on this because it affects a lot of people and the UAW has gone out on strike, the most drastic measure.
