as you write and edit SAS programs, it is a good idea to do the following:

Put a semicolon $($;$)$ at the end of every line.

Begin DATA and PROC steps in column one.

Indent statements within a step.

Document your code with comments.

Begin RUN statements in column one.

Use $/**/$ for comments instead of $*$ ; so your code works in all environments.

Always use ALL CAPS for SAS commands so your code works in all environments.
