As you'll read in this week's readings, some states have passed legislation legalizing physician assisted suicide. The Connecticut legislature has taken up legislation several times in committee. Each time, a bill has failed to advance out of committee and to the full legislature for a vote. As such, physician assisted suicide remains illegal in Connecticut at this time.

With public health emergency during 2020 and 2021, there was little attention given to legislation that would legalize physician assisted suicide in Connecticut. Given the previous advocacy around this issue, it seems likely to reemerge at some point. What is your position about the ethics of this?
