Preparation
Review a current research project that you are undertaking, considering undertaking, or one that you have conducted previously, then reflect on the theory and frameworks (e.g. conceptual frameworks, research process, research onion, etc), and the topics that we have covered in sessions 1 and 2. Reflect on how you would apply these guidelines/tools to describe the research project, as well as on the key considerations that may result in a better business research project outcome.
Task Detail
Please familiarize yourself with the rubric for this assessment, so you know about all aspects that you will be assessed on.
Structure and organise your presentation in a clear, controlled and focused direction so that the audience is moved throughout the presentation through logically ordered, relevant and well-developed points. Present your ideas clearly. Demonstrate your understanding of the key concepts / frameworks by providing a relevant details. Overall, the presentation should increase the audience's knowledge about how to conduct an effective and professional business research project. A presentation should consist of no more than 7 slides, including the Title (slide 1 - with your name and student ID) and References (last slide). References should be in CDU Harvard /APA referencing style. Make sure you engage with the audience. This is even more important when you are presenting online.
Rehearse before you present in class, so that your message is delivered in a clear and informative manner, and you finish your presentation within the imposed time limit. You will have FIVE minutes to deliver your presentation, followed by questions from the audience. To be able to thoroughly and expertly respond to questions, anticipate the most likely ones and prepare your answers in advance. Presentations will be timed. Presentations going overtime will be penalised. When you are not presenting, you are a member of the audience. As such, your task is to listen and prepare a question for each presenter. Members of the audience will be randomly called after each presentation to ask questions.
The visuals need to support your oral presentation. If you use graphics, sound and/or animation that assist you in presenting an overall message, make sure they are technically possible. A consistent and a compelling media theme is to be applied throughout. That applies for headings, fonts, colours scheme, etc.
Please submit your PowerPoint presentation with notes in the 'notes pages' to the Assessment area the night before presenting. That is only for the marker's reference. Please note that the submission without actually presenting will not give you a Pass.
