Case Study

Brooks Software Limited $($BSL$)$ was formulated and registered on March $15,2000$ with the

registered office located in Spanish Town, St$.$ Catherine. Its vision statement is to provide clients

with excellent and consistent services all the time, every time. BSL is known to be the number one

software development company in Jamaica who has consistently developed cutting edge solutions

for banks, credit unions, schools, restaurants and many more. As such the Director of Spanish Town

Credit Union $($SPCU$)$ has approached BSL to take on the project of either modifying their current

system to meet their current needs or to retire the existing system and develop a new application.

This is because the current system is incredibly old and does not meet new regulatory and global

standards. BSL has assessed SPCU$$s requirements and has presented two available options to the

Directors of the Credit Union.

The directors of the credit union have decided to give full autonomy to BSL to make

recommendations as to the best suitable option seeing that they are the experts. BSL

usually makes recommendations based on the goals and objectives of their client.

Required:

$1.$ You are the project managers at BSL$,$ based on the two options presented to the Credit

Union, which option would you recommend and why? $(5$ marks$)$

$2.$ Explain THREE $(3)$ steps in validating the project you have recommended above. $(9$ marks$)$

$3.$ Seeing that BSL makes recommendations based on the goals of their client. Formulate a

possible goal for SPCU and discuss the FIVE $(5)$ characteristics of a goal. $(13$ marks$)$

as part of the team and give two reasons why the user should be involved in the project.
