This assignment will assist students in connecting specific issues (or errors) to the development of the seminal report "To Err is Human: Building a Safer Health System," and it will give them the opportunity to assess the progress made in the healthcare industry in reducing the risk of harm that this issue poses to patients.
Assignment #1-1 Description:
Read the report brief of "To Err is Human: Building a Safer Health System" from the Institute of Medicine, Nov. 1999. Select one of the 14 errors or issues identified by the authors, conduct secondary research to determine how much progress has been made since 1999 in addressing this issue. Identify and describe the current or on-going efforts underway to continue to address the issue you have selected. Write and develop a PowerPoint presentation describing your findings.
