Assignment # 12: Lists and Files

I have gathered together some interesting data into a file called UAlbanyLightning.txt

The file contains all recorded lightning strikes in the UAlbany area

Parsing

Review alist = str.split() # alist will contain the elements of str - split using whitespace

Specifying a delimiter

Examples: delimiter = ',' delimiter = '-', delimiter = ';'

Stripping specified characters

Example: astring.strip(' ')

Avoid blank lines: if len(line) == 0:

Your task is to extract the dates and the corresponding number of lightning strikes

See if you can output the data with a more familiar date format:
