Bloomberg Business week magazine periodically publishes a ranking of the Top Companies: Best Places to Work. The ranking gives employers, employees, and potential employees a snapshot of the overall achievements these companies have made in creating a productive and rewarding work environment. The ranking considers a number of factors $($we will call these independent variables$),$ including surveys of career service directors at U$.$S$.$ colleges, surveys of the organizations themselves $($on pay, benefits, and training programs, etc.$),$ and surveys of undergraduate students. The survey data are used to create a ranking of each independent variable of the top companies. The rankings and survey data for the top $25$ organizations are shown:

Open a new Tableau Workbook from the File menu. Select the $$Connect to Data$$ option in the Data tab on your blank worksheet page, or you can select Data Source in the bottom left hand corner. Next, select Microsoft Excel in the list of connection sources. You will then select the Excel data file you just downloaded in your file explorer.

Sheet $1$: Right$-$click the Sheet$1$ tab, choose Rename, type Employer Survey, and tap the Enter key.

Within this tab drag and drop Employer Survey from the Data pane into the columns shelf. Also drag and drop Rank from the Data pane into the rows shelf. Click the drop$-$down menu of Employer Survey and select dimension, this is because we want the Employer Survey to be treated like an independent variable.

Drag and drop Organization$/$Industry from the Data pane onto the Detail mark.
