Assignment 3 - Site Layout Planning Part 1- Reserve a Construction Project Due Date: Friday March 24th @noon This assignment will use discussion board to reserve a project so that there are no duplicate in the projects. Below is a preview of the assignment that lists the requirements for the assignment. Your responsibility at the "Reserve a Project" part is to choose a project for which you can collect this information. The final details of Assignment 3 and its submission requirements will be released once the lecture is completed. Assignment Preview: In this assignment you will be asked to document the site layout for an actual construction project that is currently under construction. The current state of the project will be documented in a scaled drawing (in excel) which includes site boundaries and resources on the site; and the (spatial) relationships that were considered by project managers/planner during mobilization. Your project requires to have between 20 to 50 resources, from at least 15 different resource types (for example all your resources cannot be "office trailers"). In the second part, you will be asked to add relationships that were not considered in the current layout, but you believe it should have been included (based on what you learned in the course and your logic). You will then be asked to optimize the layout based on the relationships you added and compare it with the original layout. You are required to include at least 4 pictures of the site (more is encouraged), in a manner that it shows the site, and all the resources listed above (resources should be annotated on the pictures). Note: you are not required to enter the site. Having a good view from outside the fence is sufficient for this exercise. Sites that are partially covered (e.g. partially boarded fence), or are in a phase where most of the activities are happening inside (and not visible), are not good candidates. You have to provide information about total project duration, as well as where this project is in its timeline, and which activities are currently undergoing in the site (e.g. Total project duration: 2 years; Currently 18 months into the project; currently excavation and... are undergoing) An excel template will be provided that should be used for the drawing and final submission. Assignment 3 (Site Layout Planning): Reserve a Project Reserve your project by creating a NEW post (i.e. not replying to another project) on the discussion board allocated to this assignment, by providing the following information: Posting on behalf of Assignment Group #33 Project Name, Project Type (use industry from NAICS), City, Civic Address Activities currently undergoing: Attach a google map screen shot of site where the scale at the bottom right shows 50m, with the site boundaries of your project are superimposed (see example below). More information is encouraged, but not required at this point
