Assignment 3-1 Objectives:

Assignment 3-1 Purpose:
This assignment will give students an opportunity to practice with data related to the organization they selected as the subject matter (in Assignment #2-1) for their key deliverable in the course. Here, they will select available data and apply the data visualization techniques we practiced in class and select the best technique or series of techniques that best describes how their organization compares to others, or a similar data analysis using internal data the student has available (and can share).
Assignment 3-1 Description:
With the organization you selected as the subject to your quality improvement project (Assignment #2-1), apply that to one of the compare databases (Hospital Compare, Nursing Home Compare, the Leapfrog Group, etc.) or your own internal data. Utilizing data visualization techniques, develop a series of graphs, tables or charts that describe the situation, comparison, quality or other factor. Insert those into a PowerPoint presentation and describe what those outputs of data visualization describe about your organization or the situation you have selected. You will need at least three (3) graphs, table or charts. They need to be different types. You can do one table, but then you need to do two different graphs. The graphs can be any kind of the following:
Snapshot: Pie chart, scatter diagram, bar graph, column graph, historgram, Pareto chart, or a radar (spiderweb) chart.
Trend Reports: Line graph or column graph.
Tables can be either snapshot or trend report, but just include one, maximum.
Assignment 3-1 Parameters:
Follow the general requirements and instructions to complete your presentation assignments:
- After you create your charts and graphs copy and paste them into a PowerPoint presentation.
- Write additional text for each chart or graph to explain it.
- All material should be understandable to someone who doesn't know the subject matter, but they could pick up the slide deck and understand what you are trying to convey.
- Use APA formatting guidelines for presentations.
- Use PowerPoint or other presentation software. This does not need to be a Voice over PowerPoint.
